What a glorious weekend we had here in my little neck of the woods. Perfect weather in all ways. A little work, a little play, some family time, some sewing, and some good food. I got the binding on my T is for Thelma Schnibble and you can see it all pretty on my kitchen table. Just so you know, those roses are fresh picked from my garden! The kids came for a barbeque on Sunday night and my table is so festive. Their last name begins with T, so I am expecting they will possibly want to take it home with them!
You may notice the table is only set for three. My husband works in a town 200 miles away, so he usually leaves on Sunday afternoon and isn't with me for Sunday dinner. Or Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday dinner. I miss him, but I know this won't last forever. And at least he has a job!
Speaking of Schnibbles, I got started on the Doc Schnibble for May over the weekend. At first I was all in a dither, super confused about the cutting instructions, sewing, and lay out. I have some real spatial issues, it seems. I figured I would be challenged by this project, since in the past I have really had a struggle with this sort of thing. My Tessellations quilt comes to mind.
The Card Trick block is similar in that you have to pay attention to the adjoining blocks and get your colors arranged just so in order to make the pattern. This Tessellations quilt nearly drove me Ca-Razy.
No problem though. I guess Tessellations was my trial by fire. I didn't have the same level of frustration with my Doc blocks. After a bit of a dither, I sorted it all out. What fun these blocks are!
These are possibly the cutest blocks EVER. I cannot wait to finish this Schnibble and get it on my table! The fabric is a Sandy Gervais group called Zippity Do Dah. It is several years old I think, but you can still get it if you search online.
I don't have my BOM Rehab block done yet, but it is still Monday. I may get it done yet!
Your T for Thelma (T for Two?) table topper is so cute and is the perfect accent for your wonderful dishes, beautiful home-grown roses (!!!), and cheery yellow walls! Cheers on having this finished!
The Card-Trick block does take thought, but it incorporates one of my favorite block units and that's the one that appears in the side center positions in this block. The 3 triangle unit makes a wonderful pieced border and the placement of the light, medium, and dark fabrics changes the look completely.
How wonderful you had such a lovely weekend! Hope your hubby finds a job closer to home or one that allows him to somehow work from home and telecommute.

I posted a pic on my blog this morning of my rose that is blooming here in Minnesota. It happens to be a dandelion in the middle of green rose leaves!
I was wondering how messed up I'd get on the Doc Schnibble. I do think I'll do it, after I get my Brother back and finish up the projects I have going now. And I have pink baby quilts to make too!

I'm 'studying' your Doc Schnibble blocks! My pattern has been ordered from Miss Rosie's online shop and I'm going to use a couple of charm packs I received as a gift recently! Your week-end sounds like it was a very happy time!

Okay, don't answer that. The Card Trick block is one of those where, yes, you have to think about it when you make the first one. But after you've got one done, you wonder why it confused you so much in the first place... at least that is how they've always been for me. Fortunately, they're so stinkin' cute that they make the initial "huh?" worth it. At least that is how it was for me. :)
By the way, I love the BOM you're working on. And yes, Sinta's BOM Rehab is/was a BRILLIANT idea. I have enjoyed seeing all the long-forgotten quilts emerging.
