Can you guess what I am up to? Cutting, that's what. Got my instructions, my zip lock baggies for my pieces, my iced tea--I am good for a marathon cutting session.
I am cutting out not one, but two kits for gorgeous Civil War quilts. I am going to be traveling next week to meet up with a dear blogging friend, and take a few classes.
Sometimes when one orders kits, the fabrics are a disappointment, have you noticed? Not this time. I would say I approved of 80% of the fabrics in the first kit, and nearly 100% of the fabrics in the second. I am fortunate to have a nice stash of Civil War fabrics (mostly acquired the last time I took a quilting related trip to Illinois and Wisconsin), so I was able to easily swap out the fabrics I didn't love with some from my stash.
I have a couple of trips planned for the next few weeks, so my blogging will be sporadic. In the meanwhile, enjoy this fun picture of my darling Baby E. She is into absolutely everything lately, and I cannot take my eyes off of her for a second. Today, while I was auditioning outfits for my first trip, she climbed into the bathtub and proceded to play with her bath toys. The fact that she was completely clothed and that there was no water in the tub didn't phase her in the slightest. The tub was a play pen of sorts, so I just left her in it while I puttered around in my dressing room!
This was her trick last week. She opened the big drawer at the bottom of my tv console and climbed into it to read a book.
Have I mentioned recently how much I love her?
Beautiful fabrics for your quilting trip! You're going to have a wonderful time sewing with a blogging friend! And that baby! It's never too soon to start reading so let her sit where ever she likes!

I just love quilting trips with friends. Your fabrics look great! And that little girl... she is precious. My granddaughter is 9 now and it seems like yesterday she was that little. I loved having to watch her every minute, now she is so independent! Have a great trip!

What a cutie - she seems to like enclosed spaces - a drawer, the bathtub. So lovely that she can entertain herself.
Do enjoy your trips - meeting up with friends, taking a class, having some "me" time is a great way to recharge in time for the busy fall season that is just ahead.

I must say that I love letting my mom keep my bear while I'm at work. I absolutely love the bond and relationship they've developed and seeing how much she loves being with her nana. And every time you share with us your relationship, it just makes strengthens that feeling in me.
And baby E is precious!

Baby E is so darn cute Nicole - no wonder you love her! You're going to be close to MN...let me know if it means a layover in Mpls. I could meet you for coffee. Enjoy your Civil War quilting at any rate!

So, What class are you taking with your bloggy friend? Don't you just love retreating with friends? Either to a class or just free form, I love it.
I struggle with kits.. I love that I don't have to go to the trouble and look for the fabric, but as you say, is there choice as good as mine? Also, do I want a quilt that is identical to 15 other ones out there? Sometimes, it's "Heck yes!" other times, "Eh"
That pic of E reminds me of a picture I have of my daughter buried in my closet because she had pulled all my clothes from the shelves. So darn cute!!

What a little doll is sitting in that amazingly empty drawer reading her book!! Love that little E knows how to find special cozy places to sit and read or play. She clearly needs a little chair just her size and, BTW, DS2 loved his little recliner.
Cheers for your upcoming trips and the fun of travel, of quilt classes, and of being with quilting friends!!
Life has definitely gotten busier with FIL home. I am tired but dear AMIL is frazzled and she won't let me help.
Hugs!

Oooh, love the fabrics, what are you working on..or are we going to be in suspense until you get back? Love baby! They're way cute until they start pulling all your clothes out of all the drawers and you have to refold them, or the dishes (they seem to love tupperware), plus the makeup drawer...seems girls (and boys) always find the brightest lipsticks and nailpolishes to try out :)
