I felt that same way about Chateau Rouge, but then saw a quilt pattern that used the line that I absolutely fell in love with (the one with the scallops on the borders, if you've seen it?). I want to order something from Country Sampler just to get a package like that! I agree, presentation is everything! o:)

Barbara Anne

How cute is that? Am I seeing a fat quarter fabric "basket" filled with fat quarters and tied with a fat quarter bow?

Cute pattern, too. I got a new Hancock's of Paducah catalog Saturday and saw the new French General fabrics. Of course, I thought of you!

Thanks for the link to the free patterns!

More rain today. Methinks after two whole days of cold rain, we've slid a couple of inches toward North Carolina. :)

Audrey Bretz

Oh you lucky girl. That is gorgeous fabric.

Gertie Pye

Wow, now that's presentation! I love it when fabric looks like it's good enough to eat. I remember your previous post on presentation and I agreed entirely. It's much nicer when it looks like someone has put some thought into it.

Thank you for the free pattern link - I have printed it out as I have a ton of Rouenneries which should work with this pattern. Will you add borders? I think I would be tempted to.

The girl sitting next to me at my quilt retreat last November was making that quilt. It was stunning. I think you'll really love it.

Hi Nicole,

I'm on Row 6 of this quilt but my fat eighth bundle did NOT look so dang cute. I, too, am addicted to FG fabric. I admit it. have fun making this one! By the way, I loved the blue and browns yesterday. very pretty.

Now that is some serious eye candy.

I have three charm packs and some yardage of this line. So pretty!

Debbie R.

Wow. Beautiful. You could feast your eyes on that for a loooong time and that would probably get you your money's worth. But you'll get a gorgeous quilt, too!

gail that fabric and can see why you wouldn't pass by. Think I need to look for some for myself.
Thanks, Gail

Love French General! I thought the same thing until I saw a few of the pieces, you're right the yellow is so soft it just adds a little something :) Can't wait to see your progress - ps...enabler :)

Hi Nicole,
as much as I like the presentation of the kit and appreciate all the thoughts and work involved I could never ever justify to pay $ 31 for it (compared to the price in the Hancock's catalogue)!:(
I'm green with envy.

That is a beautiful fabric bundle. I'd be tempted to leave it out just like that as a decoration!

Helen in Switzerland

OOOh how gorgeous! i would have been weak too!!

LOL... when I first saw your blog titled, I thought it read "Simply Irresponsible" with a picture of the fat quarter bundle under it. I thought to myself - "Now here's a topic to which I can relate!" I must be feeling guilty about recent purchases :) I know you will put yours to great use in that quilt. I look forward to your demo of the ruler (if you do one), I have one as well - but haven't had a use for it yet. Perhaps this pattern will do!

I'm with you on the notion of presentation....I can't wait to see this quilt go together! ;p

I couldn't resist that kit either and it arrived recently. The fabrics are wonderful and I'm looking forward to making it (or at least putting it near the top of my to do list). Right now I'm trying to decide how much Paris Flea Market fabric I need.

Nancy Watkins

I've had my eye on that quilt...maybe I'll wait and see how hard that ruler is to use first. Country we're favorite over-the-top shop!!!

How funny, Country Sampler is one of my favorite quilt shops in my area (we have a lot of great ones in the Madison, WI area). Enjoy your new kit, I'll have to restrain myself from jumping in the car!

I love this line too, but only have a layer cake and a jelly roll. Can't wait to see yours.

Wow, that is a beautiful fq pack. I love French General. They use the most awesome shade of red.

French General is too often simply irrestible for me! I love how the store has presented it.

Oh, I really like this....I'm a tad bit behind, hubby had surgery on the 17th so haven't been able to spend any time reading blogs or sewing for that matter. LOVE this pattern and the material, hadn't noticed that it had the yellow, very pretty. Where did you get your ruler??
