Some quilts are just made to be owned by certain people. This quilt is one I made five or six years ago. I used silky beautiful Robin Pandolph Moda fabrics and recall how I loved the feel of the fabric and how much fun it was to combine different combinations of the fat quarters. It was one of the first bed sized quilts I ever made. The seams all matched, and the points came out as if by magic. As I was working on the quilt I imagined how it would look on the bed in my bedroom, and how I would redecorate the entire color scheme of the room based on this quilt's color palette. I had it quilted by a very talented woman named Vicky, who used a beautiful feather design in the border. I was thrilled with this quilt, and proudly showed it off to my mother. Big mistake. This particular shade of blue had always been her absolute, without a doubt, signature color. Mom loved this quilt. Mom craved this quilt. Mom asked me if I thought I could ever possibly recreate one like it for her. You can probably see where this is going. Yes, I gave the quilt to my mom. She loved it, redecorated her bedroom around it, was proud of me for having created something so pretty, and displayed it on her bed for years. So you see, sometimes you just have to give them away....
That is just beautiful Nicole - my favorite color too! How sweet that you had to give it to your Mom. I would have done the same!

I love this quilt Mom, it really suited Nan. I always thought of this quilt pattern as kissing fish.
