As promised, I am posting today about my 32 orphaned Christmas blocks. These blocks are what are left over from my Return to Sender quilt top after I decided to eliminate them in favor of using mostly blocks with a high degree of contrast in the block fabrics (black/cream, red/cream, green/cream).
These leftover blocks are made up of fabric combinations with lower contrast (black/red, red/green, black/green). The blocks measure 8 1/2 inches unfinished, 8 inches finished. They are accurately pieced and trimmed, and most of my corners turned out nice and sharp.
It would just be too sad if these blocks went to waste and never got made into a quilt or a table topper or *something*. What I propose to do is to have an Orphan Christmas Block Give Away on my blog. There must be someone out there who would be happy to give these blocks a home!
So friends, if you have been lurking, now is the time to step up and speak out! Here is your chance to adopt some blocks and make them into something worthwhile! Comment to today's post if you are interested in owning these 32 blocks and I will have a drawing next Wednesday and post the winner the following day.
PS: Check out Nancy's version of the Envelope block on her blogsite Blogging, Near Philadelphia. It is stunning.
Sign me up. I am sure I could give those orphans a home. By the way, I love the quilt and don't think it's too busy.

These blocks are wonderful and would work well for the quilts I make and give to Forntier Missions in the fall. Your quilt turned out wonderful and yes you are right, you have to make a Christmas quilt this time of year to have it done to use at Christmas time. Count me in on the drawing.

Oh boy! I gotta get my name in this one for sure. Owning a quilt made with Nicole blocks would be the ultimate.

How sweet of you to give the orphan blocks away. This is a sure way of know who lurks. I had seen Nancy's version back when she blogged about it. I was amazed that they were Japanese fabrics (Daiwabo taupe fabrics). I never would have guessed! Nice pattern. Amazing how a fabric will change the look of a pattern. Happy quilting!

yes i'm a lurker (but in my defense--i just found your site--am having a wonderful time reading it!) --my mom would be the one who pieces the blocks together--she hates for anything to go to waste :-)

I have wanted to make a christmas lap quilt for quite some time but haven't found a fabric collection that isn't too christmasy. I think you may have found it for me! and yes I would love to adopt your orphan blocks!

Oooooh, I've always wanted to adopt such cute Christmas blocks ! They would be sooo happy, here! (haven't made any Christmas quilt, yet...), and of course I would proudly keep them all together in a beautiful Christmas throw (none of them would get returned to sender ! Lol)
So, please, please, Nicole, pick me now, oooooh please, pick me ! (cross my fingers....AND toes !)
Hugs & smiles !

Well, of course, one would be silly to say "no" to such lovely blocks. Wednesday evening I was the proud recipient of my good friend's excess Christmas fabric, so those would be a marvelous addition.
Count me in.
