Remember this? From my post a week or so ago? The meager amount of sewing I had managed to accomplish lately? I had it laid out on the rug in the sewing room to take the picture, and just left it there. (I know, it was dumb, but I did close the door after myself. After all, what could happen?).
This is what it looks like now:
Where are the four center log cabin blocks? As you might guess, there is a story here.
I went into the sewing room last night to dig around for a baby quilt kit I wanted to pass on to my daughter Sara, and Sophie followed me in. Before I could say "Bad Girl!", Sophie piddled right in the middle of the quilt blocks. Tagged all four right in the middle.
Don't you think that is a Sign, friends? A Sign that I should just put this project away for awhile?
Oh, I tried to wash out the soiled blocks, but I just don't feel the same about them. I have enough fabric to make more blocks, so that is ok. This poor project has been cursed from the beginning. Just when I think I have it figured out and can pull it out of the fire, my darn dog pees all over it. That is it for a while. I packed everything up and put it on the shelf.
And she isn't even sorry. Maybe I could start a side business making quilted piddle pads for puppies?
Oh Nicole, oh bless your heart my friend. I'm so sorry.
As for my two cents, yes, I would take this as a sign and I WOULD PUT IT AWAY. I just would. I've even been know to toss things in the bucket. Sometimes it just has to happen.
Dang my friend. Total bummer.
Heavy sighs but lots of Love, *karendianne.

definitely a sign...Some things are just not meant to be. Maybe after a good long shelf-sitting it will, once again, appeal to you although hopefully not Sophie.

Scenes from Ozzie replayed, only now it's Sophie doing the damage. *s* I'm glad you have fabric to make new blocks. Again, like Ozzie, she is way to cute to be mad at her.

OMG...I think you're right...it's a sign...on the shelf it goes. She sure doesn't look at all sorry to me...she just thought you put that there for her. LOL!

She just added a little extra love to it, that's all. Awww, I am sorry your quilt got piddled on, but it made for a cute post. I love your quilt though. It is gorgeous and has character.

Oh, I'm so sorry...I don't think I would feel the same about those blocks after that either. It is so pretty though...perhaps if you just re-do the four center blocks!

Oh, for the love of our darn pets! They just have to have their input in whatever way they do. I know I would put the project away for awhile myself. It is going to be gorgeous though, so don't put it off for to long.

oh i'm so sorry...but it could be a new business venture that could make millions!

Oh dear, you and your fur kids.

Nicole, I think you should have a raffle and give this "puppy" a new home! The quilt squares, not those precious pups... love thie pixs of them together, they are totally darling! With fall coming soon, you'll probably need to make some polar fleece Sophie and Ozzie blankies...

you have the absolute cutest naughty dogs. :) i enjoy hearing about their adventures. yeah, maybe putting that project away for awhile is best. it'll be beautiful.... someday. :)

Oh, dear. I had a feeling that something like this might happen. Sophie has been hanging around Ozzie and you know how dangerous that is. I just found where Maggie left a little "present" on the carpet. Somehow I don't feel so bad.
You could make quilted covers for puppy pads! I would still use the blocks and name the quilt "Pees of Mind"!

I think all the signs point to putting this away, either for a while or permanently. Sophie has spoken!

I am laughing right now! This reminds me of the time we were holding up our raffle quilt at bee one night and my friends dog just walked over and lifted his leg. We all laughed so much we almost...well you know. Guess you'll be making new blocks!

OH dear, Sophie...naughty dog! And it was looking so lovely.

Someone is jealous of the fabric getting any attention!

Are you sure that isn't just the tiniest hint of remorse in her eye?
Some quilts are just meant to be made in another time and place *s*

This is so pretty - pink and brown is one of my favorite combinations - I think it's a sign that the quilt wants to be finished so it's not laid out in pieces on the floor!
Posted by: Mary | September 15, 2008 at 07:17 PM
they have bacteria stuff in Petco and Petsmart that'll remove the smell and such from the fabric. Ask me how I know.....I own cats and dogs
Naughty girl but I know look in their eyes and you're a goner ;0
G'luck

LOL!!!!! It's usually your children that give you grey hair, lol. With you it is going to be your dogs. So funny, I am sorry I am laughing, but you really do have a time with them. I don't think they want you to quilt. lol..I would put that quilt far, far away until they grow up..does that ever happen?
Posted by: Perry | September 15, 2008 at 10:37 PM
I think Sophie just loved your quilt and was merely marking it as her own. Maybe you could finish that portion and give it to her to do with what she pleases.

And I thought my cat is crazy! Please don´t put the project away for a long time. I can imagine it will be great! I love the colors.
Greetings
