Finally, I did a little sewing! I ended up making my Roundabout quilt a Schnibbles size after all. It is the perfect size for my round kitchen table, and will be an adorable little topper for it in September. I have a Pottery Barn inspired arrangement of votive candles and sunflowers in pots that will be super cute on top of it. I am going to machine quilt it myself, which is always an endeavor I undertake with some trepidation. Wish me luck! I may even try a bit of stippling on the border.
Every time I do any machine quilting, I check out You Tube for instructional videos. I discovered a couple of tutorials by a woman named Marguerite, who has a blog called Crazy Shortcut Quilts. I watched two of her videos on stitching in the ditch and found them pretty helpful. Her You Tube videos are on her blog as well, so you might be interested in checking them out.
That was a great "conversation" we had Friday, on the disparity of wealth in our country during these difficult economic times. Turns out, most of us seem to be in the same situation of waiting out the bad economy! Thanks to all of you who made comments and shared your stories.
Hi Nicole!
Love this quilt! Wanted to reply on Friday with words of encouragement, but never got back to the computer.
Since you like you tube videos on free motion quilting I suggest a website called "365 Days of Free- motion quilting" by Leah Day. Her project started 1 yr ago on August 14th. She did not finish 365 designs yet, but you can read why on her blog. If you are looking for pattern inspiration there is alot there. She has alot of how tos and methods that have worked for her as well. Lots of video footage on how to do the designs too.
Happy Quilting!
Pat

I really like this quilt. It has a "rich" look to it...sooo, rich doesn't always refer to money, huh?

This is one gorgeous Roundabout with those Autumn colors. I also read previous post about your new job and that ladies income....I never tell anybody the truth on income and wonder if she left off a zero?

Love Roundabout!! Those are my colors - but then I love most colors!
I'll book-mark those quilting sites as I'll be quilting my quilts, too. As you machine quilt, I wish you peace, calm, a steady stitch, and good music to keep you tranquil!
Hugs!

I'm taking another class for my machine so I can do some more machine quilting on it rather than sending it out. I took a class from "Mr. Quilt", Don Linn a few years back. He taught us that when you stitch in the ditch, lower your feed dogs. At first we were sceptical. But it really worked much easier, just going slow.

This is beautiful. Makes me look forward to the fall leaves.

Beautiful quilt!
I love Maureen Noble's Machine Quilting - I don't know if she has a video, but her book is worth investing in, and practicing. She gave me my kick-start to machine quilting, and I do almost all my own quilting.
I'm taking a class from Jill Schumacher next spring. She offers classes up in your neck of the woods.

Fab fall table topper. Can't wait to see a picture of your table all decorated with this top. You are so good about changing out your decor, it's a stretch for me to change the table cloth!
