This is all I have to show for myself. One block. The lower one in red, yellow and green. All I have been doing lately is working or chasing after the baby. I got up at 6:00 AM on Sunday morning and staggered down to the studio to make the third block in the Designer Mystery 2011 BOM series.
Let's just say that I was very grateful for the excess of fabric that FQS sends with its BOMs this time. The block doesn't look exactly like it should, but hmmmmm.
Yes, that's it. I WANTED it to look this way. That's right. I MEANT for it to turn out like this instead of the way the designer intended. Yes sirree Bob.
And I even made it to work on time.
I think it looks great Nicole! I so love being Grandma too, though now that the little one is mobile when I'm watching him I'm really Watching him!
I have 3 more blocks to complete on last years BOM and I'm not letting myself do my first block on this one until they are done..at least so far.

Love the block, Nicole! IMHO, making blocks you like, in fabrics you love is, in the way you want to make them - and arrange them - is what is the most fun about making quilts. Utter freedom of choice, start to finish!
Methinks chasing Miss E. will do wonders for your exercise plan!
Hugs!

Great block, anyone (usually) can make the block look like the designers,it takes a truly creative mind to make the block an original. That's my story, and I am sticking to it, LOL.

Hey, I am working on the same BOM right now.
Since you are so busy with the baby, skip over and do Block Six by Margo Languedoc....fast and easy!! Then Block Seven "Dandelion" which looks hard but is pretty fast!! That will help you feel like you are getting caught up!! I sat in front of the tv and drew the lines on the back of the remaining blocks that called for it, so I should be able to speed sew now.
Should have done that all along.

Looks great to me. I would have to pull my block out again and see what the differences are. It looks like I remembered it... Although I have done 5 more birdie blocks, I forgot to take pictures, so I won't be able to send them into Sinta today... but I was wondering if you had seen the Mill Girls BOM? I'm hoping that I will see some of these blocks starting in September in rehab. I signed up through Fabric Essentials, which will be a first for me to do one outside of FQS (who isn't offering it). Have you ever shopped with them before? All the best today!

Your post really struck a cord with me today - some days I am just rushing and rushing and all I want to do is to have a few minutes of relaxing quilt escape! I think your block looks great. Everybody else in this BOM is going to make their block look like yours :)

That block looks great to me! My hat is tipped to you for getting up early to go down and sew in your studio! I don't think I have that much dedication...although I haven't been able to put much time in on my machine lately, so you never know! You could start an Early Birds Quilting Club!!

It's a beautiful block Nicole!

Well I don't know what it was "supposed" to look like but it looks great how you did it! You get extra credit for chasing a baby, going to work, AND doing the block!! :) (Yea, I keep one of our grandbabies on Fridays and yep...I chase her and don't get any sewing done! :) But she sure is a sweetie!! :))
