Really like that block and did print out to try...very interesting and well worth trying. Also do the starch method you do and learned from Kimberly at FQS and now won't use fabrics unless starched...love your colors!

Iā€™m doing the sew along too! What is your preferred starch brand? I have a hard time finding my favorite faultless.

I like the new block; you were right to change it. Love Betsy's new line and hadn't thought about using repros for the Socialites. I may just watch this sew along. I haven't jumped onto the starch routine- but I have starched when making little pieces. Do you then wash the finished quilt?

Love Betsy Cutchian fabrics. Also I'm now addicted to starching. I get StaFlo liquid starch in the big bottles and dilute it in a bucket. I then dunk my fabric in it and dry. It's easier on my hands than holding the spray can even with the spray handle on it. Faster too!

Contrast does make a difference! I took a look at the Broken Dishes block construction & will print it to try out! I don't enjoy drawing lines to sew on either side for HST's. So I used a Doug Letko ruler for a quilt full of pinwheels that I just finished. Have a great sewing weekend! Stay well!

Love your fabric choices. I will look at the construction for sure. Have a nice weekend.

Love how you showed the different contrasts in the blocks! Funny because the darker one is still cute with its subtle pinwheel. I had a teacher who would always like to have the quilt blocks like that just kind of melted into the fabric where you can barely see them. Guess that's why they call quilters crazy, cut up whole pieces of fabric, then sew them up so they look like whole pieces of fabric again šŸ˜®šŸ˜

yes, my sentiments exactly! btw, I love your metal quilt block hanging by your backdoor.

have a lovely safe weekend. you might as well sew because it is going to be bloody hot again. I.hate.the.heat.
