What a timely post! I want to make a red and white quilt this year so I'll be watching your progress on this. I like the block you made.

You will work your magic with your new french general fabric. What a lovely haul from your sweet son. How many son's try to please their mom with a fabric gift. Awesome.
Blessings to you as you navigate busy, stressful times and wishing the best to your dad.

Love the fabric! What a fun gift and you are so smart to cut some now, and tuck away some for later 🙂 the basket block is beautiful and I look forward to seeing your quilt progress. So sorry to hear about your Dad - saying a prayer and please keep us posted!

I love French General. I also saw a new post from Sweet Water that I also love. In time for Valentine’s Day, I just got Sweet Sixteen. Sorry about dad. How nice that he has daughters that will help.

Audrey

A quick question - are you doing a scrappy background? Or all one background? If all one, how much yardage do you have?

I hate to say it but I am jealous! That is gorgeous fabric!

The beautiful fabric from your son is such a thoughtful gift. He knows what his mama likes! Your dad is your priority right now. Your readers will be here waiting patiently while you help care for him. Stay well!

French General fabric is one of my very favorites. I have hoarded a few pieces in my stash but haven't decided what to make with it. The pieces you have in your photo is really beautiful. I also love 3 Sisters and have a little of that can still can't determine what to do with it. I look forward to seeing what comes of your F.G. collection.

Oh! What a wonderful gift. French General is one of my favourites -- so beautiful. A real treasure trove of fabric -- and a real treasure of a son!

Good luck with your big work assignment. And I hope that things go well with your father and that he improves.

What an awesome son! I've always loved the look and feel of French General. I totally hoard my stash but am going to work on cutting some of my favorites this year. What pattern are you using? Sending get well wishes for your dad.

Jocelyn

I also love French General, and have quite a stash of fabric. Just can't decide what to do with it. Looking forward to seeing your baskets.

Hello Nicole, first of all my very best wishes to your Dad for a quick recovery. What a lovely fabric gift from your son - lucky you. Your projects often inspire me. I am working on a mystery quilt for which I am using fabrics from the Jane Austen at Home collection, I liked it so much that I bought the fat quarter set in addition to the yardage of four prints (it was tough choosing - hence the fat quarters) needed for the mystery - the flower baskets will be perfect for those. Do take care as you travel to care for your father; these are such difficult times.

Love basket blocks. Question please. What ruler did you use to help you make more perfect square in a square or Ohio Star blocks? Forgot to write down. Mine are always too short on the 1/4 inch sides. Thanks for all your inspiration. Love French General too. Give my best to your husband and Ozzie.

Sandy Carlson

Prayers for your Dad & family. Never easy when loved ones are hurting. The basket quilt will be beautiful. I also enjoy making that style of basket, not the applique versions, but have yet to make one for myself. Perhaps another project to add to my 2021 list...
