We decided to get out of Dodge and head up into the mountains to escape the heat. We had planned a little getaway for the first couple of days this week, but at the last minute changed the location of our destination to a cooler place. The temperatures hit the triple digits this past weekend and made us rethink our plans. Instead of wine tasting on the Central Coast, we are now up in the mountains at Lake Tahoe. As you can see the lake is gorgeous.
Since it was pretty last minute, the Air B&B we ended up with is pretty pedestrian, but we are spending most of our time outside.
I've hit a major glitch with my computer, in that all my photo files are now something called HEIC instead of jpeg, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to convert them to be able to post in a blog post. Keep your fingers crossed that I can figure it out...
In the meantime, I hope you had a good weekend and that your week is off to a good start. Hope to be back with a regular post on Wednesday.
It has been hot here in Wisconsin as well. Lake Tahoe looks refreshing in all this heat. Here in the Midwest we have Lake Michigan and that helps us beat the heat!
Have a good week!

Ahhhh Lake Tahoe! We were there many years ago on a ski trip and I have very fond memories. Unfortunately, we are not having our usual hot summer… just lots of rain! Enjoy your break and let us know what you did!!!

I googled changing HEIC to jpeg. It looks pretty simple. No special app needed.

I am a native Californian although I have lived outside the state for many years now. Lake Tahoe is one of my favorite places. We went there often - even honeymooned there 50 years ago. With all the climate and pollution issues nowadays, I am thrilled that the lake is still so beautiful. Enjoy.

Your post made me wonder how many other ex-Californians are missing CA by midsummer. We lived in SoCal and when the heat and pollution would do us in by September, we headed to vacation north of Mammoth in the cool mountains at 10,000 feet up. After Labor Day campgrounds were calm and quiet, the air was cool, and night time was really black and inky, the fishing was good. Years later, the campgrounds changed and we no longer stopped to camp there on our way to the coast to stay with grandparents. Hope you had a restful timeout. Was just talking to family yesterday in CA, Sacto is unbearable and even Santa Cruz is warmer than usual. Hope you get your photo changeover done without stress. I always enjoy your quilt photos and that I can enlarge photos enough to really see your fabrics.
