Just a quick update to tell you my father is in the hospital. His doctor is concerned about kidney failure. We have observed that he has not bounced back from his fall two and a half weeks ago, and has progressively shown signs of significant weakness, loss of appetite, and lethargy. My sister Kate and I took him into the emergency room at Stanford Hospital on Sunday, and he was put on intravenous fluids and admitted for observation.
The good news is, that the IVs have really caused him to perk up and to be much more lively. He also has been eating fairly well. Nice to know hospital food is better than our home cooking. lol We hope he will come home today and it will be up to us to be sure he consumes enough fluids to keep his kidneys doing what they are supposed to do.
I know he is getting the best possible care. Having access to a top-tier medical facility is really a blessing. I will keep you posted on his recovery.
Hugs and prayers.

IV fluids can be miraculous when oral intake just doesn't keep up enough for the kidneys to function well. So glad you could get that issue defined and treated. Thoughts and prayers for you and your sisters as you carry on with these issues.

I have
walked the caregiver journey with my 101 year old dad…no siblings so it was busy but such a sweet time with him. Your family is so lucky to share this honor together

omg! dehydrated...I would not have thought of that. you'll have to have a serious talk with him about drinking anything and everything if he wants to be home with his family.
so glad he is doing better. he actually looks great in that picture....he just needs to have a book or magazine in his hand.

Every time my elderly uncle checked into the hospital and had an IV drip he bounced back. It seems to me that maybe it should be standard procedure for the elderly.

Oh my what a journey your dear dad is on and you two along with him. He is fortunate to have dedicated daughters in his time of need. I do hope it all works out well for him.
On another note the blocks in Lady Tulip look wonderful.

Praying for your dad and all of his caregivers, especially you! My dad has been in the hospital for over a week, after having a brain bleed which led to a small stroke. It's amazing how quickly they weaken in the hospital! He may be released to a rehab facility in the next few days. I've spent more time sitting at the hospital in the last week or so than I ever have, except when I was in there for an infection that went septic. Hopefully both our dad's will recover quickly!
