Well, I did it. Here is "Don't Fence Me In", an old pattern by Miss Rosie's Quilt Company, made with a collection of fabrics by Andover called "Lucky Charms". I am super pleased with how it turned out and will order backing for it and get it sent off for quilting. It will be fun to use it next year in the early Spring.
As always, it is a good feeling to get the big design wall cleared off. In my effort to tackle some UFOs each month, I've decided what older project to carry on with next. I think I am going to pick up the Red Sampler Quilt project I started with Lori Holt so long ago. I am more than halfway finished with those blocks.
This is a picture of Lori's finished quilt. As you can see it is huge! Who doesn't love a red and white quilt? I've made several of them over the years and they are a true classic.
My husband and I watched Brendan Fraser in "The Whale" last night, in our Oscar winners movie marathon. I have to admit, Brendan Fraser's acting performance was definitely award-worthy. Although the movie was possibly one of the saddest I have ever seen. I was left thinking about all the delusions we comfort ourselves with in order to feel that our lives have had some purpose. Very depressing.
Sara is coming over tonight and we will have our St. Patrick's corned beef recipe a day early. My corned beef recipe is absolutely the best. Here is a link to the post where I shared my recipe. Do not make the mistake one reader made when she tried it out. The recipe calls for a glaze made with Jack Daniel's whisky. After you apply the glaze mixture to the roast, KEEP THE COVER OFF THE POT. Otherwise, your entire oven will blow up from alcohol fumes and you will be very unhappy.
Oh Nicole you have to finish the red and white quilt. It’s beautiful!
I also love your Irish Fence Me In quilt. I have that pattern but have never made it. Maybe it’s time to give it a whirl! Thanks for the recipe! It looks 🤤. Have a great weekend!

My sister and I saw The Whale, and were struck by how broken almost every character in the movie was. Depressing is correct. We saw Women Talking also; very quiet , no action to speak of, but powerful.

The green quilt is lovely. Maybe more of the circles in the quilting? I choose a similar pattern often in square patterns for the joy of hte contrast. I do love red and white quilts. I would love to tackle something like that pattern. It is indeed a year I need to address all the UFOs.
When you and your husband watch the Oscar nominees, do you stream them or go to the big screen? Some of them only show at the 'art' film houses around here and are limited release.
And thank you for reposting the link to your recipe. I'm debating a crockpot version... but this sinus infection has me down and not wanting to hit the grocery store for the provisions (with a mask of course). We'll see how desperate my taste buds get. Have a great St Patty's Day.

You won't believe this but I found the Don't Fence Me In pattern included in the Miss Rosie's Floral Quilt book! I was able to snag a copy on Etsy. I just checked ebay and there are a couple of books there. What a great way to use up scraps with this easy paper piecing pattern! I may delve into my Thimbleberries fabric stash from long ago to make a nostalgic quilt. Thanks so much for posting about this pattern.

I am laughing because I am that reader whose oven blew up when I opened the door...and my sweater stated smoking! I have not made that recipe since, but it was most delicious. I think of you every St. Pat's day!

Your 'Don't Fence Me In' quilt looks great on the bed! The borders compliment the blocks. Will you be binding it with the dark green? That would be a nice 'frame' for it, in my opinion. Enjoy your corned beef tonight & the inevitable corned beef hash that will be delicious tomorrow! ☘️
