I went to my father's house on Sunday to have dinner with the family. We hope to finish emptying out the house soon and letting the realtors spruce things up a bit to prepare it for selling this spring. The sun was shining when I woke up there Monday morning and I went outside to the backyard and discovered this large mushroom in the grass. Doesn't it make a beautiful autumn picture?
On Saturday I worked a bit more on the Hourglass blocks. I have completed months 1 through 8.
I am starching the fabric for the alternate log cabin blocks now and want to get a few made to get a better feel for the final look of the quilt. I think the "night and day" effect will be stunning.
The main body of Apple Sauce is together, and I am still working on the square in a square blocks that will form the border.
So nothing is actually finished, but I am getting there. It will be a full week though, so I am not sure just how much sewing will get done! I read somewhere that this is a great week because it is a short one that ends in pie and shopping. I have started my Christmas planning, but so far have only bought one thing for Eva.
We will be a small group for Thanksgiving dinner, but that's ok. I like the quiet coziness of it, with the house full of good smells and a lazy evening after dinner is complete. Friday I suspect we will start the holiday decorating and get the tree up. No glass ornaments this year. I don't think Archie would mess with the ornaments, but he is still very rambunctious and we don't want to risk him breaking anything he brushes past.
I hope you all are having a great start to your week!
I do the same thing - hang my quilt tops over the upstairs railing. Once, when I was working in the front yard, a neighbor I did not know walked by and told me that she enjoyed seeing the different quilts as she walked past the house. Now I am always aware that someone may look in and see my “decorations”.

No glass ornaments this year?! That will make next year all the more special though, won’t it? I love Thanksgiving because of the coziness — watching the parade TV in the morning, cooking all afternoon, and eating a delicious dinner and dessert. Plus, then I have pie for breakfast till it’s all eaten up! Have a wonderful week. I’m thankful for your blog!

I love the little mushroom. We are enjoying the company of my brother and his wife, and our children, spouses and grandchildren are popping in all during the week. I don't think I will get any sewing done. Have a wonderful week.

Your mushroom photo is so pretty! It should be in a frame or recreated as an art quilt! We've put the Christmas tree up on a table when new puppies have been in the house. It's just easier for everyone that way! Our group is smaller this year with 13 for Thanksgiving instead of the usual 20-22. And, thank you for always having an interesting post to share with your readers!

The hourglass is looking lovely. I am trying to get in a little work on my Christmas uilt this week but it will be tough. We actually are having a big Turkey day for the first time in years. My sister is up here from Texas and any relations who are near enough will come for dinner. I think we are up to 13!

ah, the tree concerns...we went ahead and put a full tree up but only allowed River to see it from a few feet away. he was very curious about a live tree being inside the house. ;p we'll see how it goes this year.
both of those quilts are looking gorgeous.
enjoy your cozy Thanksgiving. I know I will. unfortunately, we have to grocery shop today and it will be madness...madness!

Same here, a quieter Thanksgiving than usual. I think it might be nice! Trying to be positive and at peace with it. I am really liking the blue and white blocks.
