I feel as if the countdown to Christmas has really started. Two weeks from today is the Big Day, and I am ready for it for the most part. The house is as decorated as it is going to get, the shopping is finished, and some of the gifts are even wrapped.
We changed up our mantel a bit this year by adding a lighted wreath. I am happy with how it looks, but it requires us to get out the step stool each evening to turn it on! Clearly, I didn't think that through when I ordered it. It does turn itself off, but wouldn't it be nice if it could be set to come on at a certain time each day like the Luminara candles do? The garland works the same way, but at least we can reach the button to turn it on!
This is our new tree this year. It is a bit smaller than our old one, but at least it doesn't require getting out the big ladder to decorate it. My husband's balance isn't what it used to be, so I feel better not having him up so high. Notice the lights on this tree. It comes with a remote where you can choose the lights to be all colored, all white, or a combination of both! I have it set to a combo of colored and white and I think it looks pretty cool. It is fun to be able to switch it up. You can also brighten or dim the lights.
Both the tree and new garland came from Balsam Hill.
We have our undecorated older taller tree on the back porch. We still sit out there every night with Archie and it is so festive. Our practice is to bundle up and sit out there with our glass of wine and listen to music while Archie has a Kong or a marrow bone. It's been pretty chilly by 5:00 or so, but if I put on a hat, a puffy coat, a scarf, and gloves, I can just about last an hour out there while dinner cooks. I know, we Californians are such babies about the temperature.
Are you enjoying the countdown to Christmas? Our son arrives this week from Ireland, so we are happy to have the decorating and a lot of the preparations finished so we can enjoy every minute of his visit.
Absolutely love your decorations! The mantle with its lighted decor is so festive and beautiful. And I love that you sit out on your porch with the lighted tree, music and Archie 🥰 Enjoy!

find a timer plug for your wreath. It plugs into the outlet and the wreath plugs into it, then you can program the on and off time.

Your Christmas decorating is gorgeous. I love sitting at night with just the tree lights on. It's so calm and relaxing. Happy that your son will spend Christmas with you.

Love both trees. It’s my adult sons birthday today and when he was little I put up the tree the day after his birthday party , so it would be safe from a herd of little boys. Those 2 weeks till Christmas went by so fast.

what a great idea to put the old tree on the back porch! it looks so festive! we buy ginormous femur bones from chewy.com for River. he chews on it for a solid hour b4 coming in exhausted from the work. it takes him about 4 days of chewing to get all the roasted bits off of it. ;p
I went to the post office on saturday....it was a mad house. yikes! have a great visit with your son and stay warm.

Love your wreath and mantle decorations! Bummer about having to turn on but lots of items now have a timer so maybe you can adapt yours.
