I finished those darn ears of corn blocks and have moved on to the star blocks, which will go much more quickly. I don't think I am going to make this runner as long as the pattern directs. It will be more useful to me if it is a couple of block shorter.
I've been researching some smaller projects that will be fun to work on this autumn. I have so many full-size quilts and don't really want too many more of them. But, I do love working with current fabric collections and making smaller projects such as table runners or table toppers allows me to do that. It is a lot easier on the budget too!
Fat Quarter Shop has a couple of free seasonal mystery projects every year. One is a Halloween project and the other is a Christmas project. Last year I did the Halloween quilt, which was called Haunted Halloween.
This year's pattern is called Spooky and Sweet, and it is completely adorable.
I think it has to be in my future.
This is Star of Wonder, the free Christmas sew-along. A nice small project that comes together easily. The tutorials for both the Spooky and Sweet and Star of Wonder are on several YouTube channels. Fat Quarter Shop has excellent tutorials as does Pat Sloan and others.
I've been making lists of all the projects I would love to make. Do you do that? I love planning ahead and only wish I had the time to sew all the projects that appeal to me!
I don't make lists. I have projects set aside for an upcoming retreat. I have been working on clearing out my box of charm square collections and using them in Linus Project quilts. Once the squares are used up, I'm flying by the seat of my pants to make more scrap quilts for Linus. I work best if I see what interests me next.

I love the Star of Wonder. I got that email yesterday but my mind went to the cross stitch version. I just finished a small needlepoint ornament that is reminiscent of a double wedding ring pattern. One of my favorite counted pieces also reminds me of quilt blocks. I have enough quilts - but I also have enough needlework. The walls are covered! LOL I am definitely a list maker. Lists of needlepoint I want to do, and canvases to acquire as the budget allows.

I bought both of those kits— Spooky and Sweet had many, many pieces for the the first block, so I didn’t jump in. Star of Wonder on the other hand, was easier— so I’m only three weeks behind. LOL. I’m glad they switched these free projects to the summer, so there’s more time to make them— they used to do them in the fall.

Those small projects look really fun. I know you will do them up beautifully! Thanks for showing them to us, I'm always looking for free patterns, LOL. The Star of Wonder medallion could be used for many other designs that need a medallion.

Those seasonal quilts are so cute! I could see making one or both! I don't make lists of projects I'd like to do. But, I usually have an idea of what I'd like to work on next as I'm finishing the current one.

Love the corn blocks! Thanks for sharing the info on the mini quilts! FQS does a great job with free patterns and tutorials but I forget to look for them. Will need to check them out 😉

The corn field is looking good! So cute!I enjoy making seasonal quilts, I just need to work on other seasons besides fall. I love fall colors. I’ve decided that I have enough big quilts (queen/ king) but I don’t want to stop quilting! I’m going to stick with lap size and other smaller projects. I like to make lists for the satisfaction of crossing them off when complete., but a lot of the time I lose my lister under a pile of fabric…😂

Did you buy the kits for these small projects? I’m thinking I could use stash for the Spooky and Sweet one but not sure about the Star of Wonder. I tend to just bookmark projects or save patterns and fabrics for future projects. Maybe lists would be better to keep me focused.

The corn blocks are cute and you made them beautyfully, as always.
Spooky & Sweet looks so adorable that I bought the quilt kit and downloaded the pattern. Thank you for enabling me. 😄
