I am happy to report that my Petit Four quilt is a finish. I won't lie, I sure did use my seam ripper a lot on this one. I must have sewn those Snail Trail blocks every possible orientation until I got them right. If you think I got any of them turned wrong, just don't tell me.
Towards the end I even sewed the last three bottom rows to the top of the quilt. Honestly. That resulted in a few moments of confusion while I figured out what I had done.
In summary, the pattern was good, the Bunny Hill Blueberry Delight fabric is adorable, and the Fat Quarter Shop tutorials on YouTube were excellent. Overall, I really enjoyed making this foundation-pieced project.
My brain is tired now. I am ready for something simple next up.
While I was watching Kimberly's YouTube tutorials I happened upon one featuring the Kites foundation papers. These are super simple little blocks that go together fast and fun. I whipped up this little Christmas topper following the directions provided in the video. The blocks are 6 inches finished, the inner border is 1.5" and the middle and outer borders are 3".
I think it's pretty cute and will make a nice holiday gift for someone. I want to make another one for myself but don't like the light fabrics in the blocks because they don't show up well against the background. Should have thought of that...
The fabric is an older collection by Sweetwater called Countdown to Christmas. I bought a bunch of charm packs and extra yardage, so have plenty on hand to make another one or two of these little toppers. I have no recollection what my original plan for that fabric may have been.
My house has been turned into an infirmary. When we picked Eva up on Sunday it was clear that she wasn't feeling well. She has gone steadily downhill and is set up in our guestroom with Advil, a wastebasket overflowing with tissues, glasses half full of 7-Up and all the other accouterments of a bad cold. School is supposed to start on Wednesday, but I'm not sure she will make it. How weird to be sick on the first day of school. There ought to be a law.
Petit Fours looks wonderful!, love the blue and white! Hopefully Eva will have a speedy recovery and won’t miss the first day of school. 🤞🏻

Your petit fours turned out so pretty! Love the Christmas kites ! I bought a pad of them on our Texas shop hop , such a cute block. Sympathies with Miss Eva. My allergies started Saturday morning and mainly have coughing, I guess from draining down my throat. Lack of energy for sure and just want to rest. Awful hers is at start of school 😞.

Both Petit Four & Christmas Kites look great! Someone will be very lucky to receive your first try at that Christmas topper! I'm so sorry Eva isn't feeling well! 🤧 You never know what kids will do as far as getting over stuff, so I wouldn't bet against her going to the first day in the morning!

I can see how the orientation of the snail blocks would be confusing, but your quilt turned out very lovely. I'm sorry Eva is under the weather. Hopefully she will recover quickly.

just a quick hello and to say I love that quilt! it would be a lot to make a large one in the pattern.
I'm so sorry Eva is sick. Covid is everywhere right now. we've avoided it somehow? I hope she feels better soon. so glad she has nanna's guestroom to rest.

Congrats on 2 finished quilts! I have my Petit Four quilt top finished and trying to decide what to do about the back. I think a pieced back will make it too heavy. What did you do? I enjoyed making the quilt top and might make another. Made mine with Peachy Keen fabrics by Corey Yoder, not my usual color choices. Perhaps a Christmas quilt for a gift.
